How to set DNS manually

This post is all about how to set DNS in windows XP, windows 7, windows 8 and windows 8.1.
So just follow these simple instructions to enjoy third part DNS service rather than using DNS assigned by your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

HOW TO INCREASE INTERNET SPEED USING DNS

Mac OS X

1. Go to System Preferences.
2. Click on Network.
3. Select the first connection in your list and click Advanced.
4. Select the DNS tab and add ip address of DNS in the list of DNS servers.
5. Click OK

Windows XP

1. Select Control Panel from the Start menu.
2. Click Network Connections from the Control Panel choices.
3. Choose your connection from the Network Connections window.
4. If you have more than one, choose your default/current connection.
5. Click Properties button.
6. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
7. Click the radio button Use the following DNS server addresses and type ip address of DNS in the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server fields.
8. Click OK

Windows Vista

1. Click the Start Orb, then select Control Panel.
2. Click on View network status and tasks.
3. Click on View status.
4. Click the Properties button.
5. Vista may ask for your permission to make changes. If so, click the Continue button.
6. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), then click the Properties button.
7. Click the radio button "Use the following DNS server addresses:" and type ip address of DNS in the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server fields.
8. Click the OK button, then the Close button, and the Close button again. Close the Network and Sharing Center window.

Windows 7

1. Click the Start Orb, then select Control Panel.
2. Click on Network and Sharing Center.
3. Click on your primary connection or Local Area Connection under Active Networks.
4. Click the Properties button.
5. Windows 7 may prompt you for permission to make network setting changes.
6. Highlight 'Internet Protocol Version 4' and click Properties.
7. Click the radio button 'Use the following DNS server addresses:' and type ip address od DNS in the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server fields.
8. Click OK button, then the Close button, then Close again. Finally, close the Network and Sharing Center window.
9. At this point, we highly suggest that you flush your DNS resolver cache and web browser caches to ensure that your new configuration settings take effect.

Windows 8 & 8.1

1. Open Control Panel.
2. Select Network and Internet, and then Network and Sharing Centre.
3. Select Change adapter settings in the left-hand column.
4. Right-click on Connection that you want to change DNS and select Properties.
5. Click on the Networking tab and click once on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to highlight it, and then click Properties (or double click on it).
6. Select Use the following DNS server addresses and then enter the DNS details.
7. Click OK!
