How to convert FAT32 to NTFS without loosing data

If you want to convert file system of your drive (whatever pendrive or hard drive) without loosing your data then it is possible to do using some basic commands.
fat32_to_ntfs

Just follow these few steps...

 Steps

  1. Attach your drive to PC! (its necessary :D :P)
  2. Identify your drive letter (just go to my computer and identify), in my case its J:
  3. Open command prompt(CMD) as Administrator.
  4. Now we have to identify whether pendrive has any error or not.
  5. For that execute "CHKDSK /F <DRIVE_LETTER>" (without quotes) in CMD. In my case it will be "CHKDSK /F J:"
  6. Wait till process completes and after it we will convert the file system of drive
  7. Now Execute "CONVERT <DRIVE_LETTER> FS:NTFS", it will be "CONVERT J: FS:NTFS"
  8. CMD will do the process of conversion itself and after completion you can verify file system of drive by right click on drive and select property!
  9. Done!!!


SUMMARY OF COMMANDS

  1. CHKDSK  /F  <DRIVE_LETTER>
  2. CONVERT <DRIVE_LETTER> FS:NTFS


Note: you can replace NTFS with any other file system format i.e. FAT32 to convert drive into that format
